Brazil loses 33% of native vegetation: Amazon holds half of deforestation
A new MapBiomas report, released on Wednesday (21), shows that Brazil has lost a third of its native vegetation since the Portuguese invasion in 1500. By 1985, when the dictatorship in Brazil officially ended, the loss of natural areas amounted to 20% of the national territory.
